Meet the Skipper

Robin's experience in cruising started from a young age, under the watchful eye of his father, Robin learned the old ways of sailing and navigating. Three-time winner of the 'Yachting World' cruising trophy, Robin has always kept his sea legs. This Westerly Ocean lord is called 'Osis' After many years, I made the decision to buy a power boat.

Whether you're looking to relax, explore, or celebrate a special occasion, Robin provides the perfect platform for a memorable day at sea.

My name is Robin, and I own L u n a. I grew up on sailboats and have over 15,000 nautical miles to my name. Although the Solent is my home, I’ve sailed the English Channel and crossed the Bay of Biscay. From calm, glassy waters reflecting the stars, to limping home through storm force 11 gales, I’ve had a true sailing upbringing.

Robin has sailed both sides of the English Channel—ranging from the Solent all the way to the Scilly Isles (just ask about Hangman's Rock), and from Bon Fleur and Saint-Vaast, around the Brest Peninsula, and down the Bay of Biscay to La Rochelle and its many spectacular islands. Needless to say, if you ask Robin about these journeys, be prepared—there's always a story or two. You’ve been warned

Whatever the day brings—tides, weather, or unexpected turns—Robin’s experience ensures it will be the best it can be. With every wind change, Robin is already thinking ahead to the next sheltered cove or safe harbour. He has an intimate knowledge of the Solent's anchorages, having visited every one of them. Robin’s experience not only enhances your day on the water, but he’s always happy to share his knowledge with those who are learning.

‘Now, I can share what it’s like to be out on the water—the excitement, the serenity, and the sense of escape from the ordinary.’

Sailing Yachts: Love the Lifestyle, But...

Sailing gives you the confidence to learn boating — from navigation to knots to weather watching. But at 4–6 knots (with the tide playing nice), every journey is a commitment. Anywhere you go becomes an overnight trip.

And while you're embracing the boating life, your friends and family are only keen when the forecast says “stunning.” Even then, you’ll probably end up motoring because no one wants to spend half the day tacking in light winds. Then there's the fun of hosting guests. Want to sit down? Good luck — there's always a rope where the seat should be, or a cleat perfectly positioned to jab your thigh. And don’t even think about standing in front of the instruments — unless you want the skipper to throw you overboard (lovingly, of course).

Why It’s All Worth It

Despite the slow pace, the weather whims, and the occasional cleat in the wrong place, sailing is absolutely worth it. The memories you make on the water are impossible to explain to someone who hasn’t been there. The colours of the sea and sky, the smell of salt in the air, the fish you catch and cook yourself... and then, there’s the sunset. Nothing compares to watching the sun dip below the horizon, a drink in hand, surrounded by friends. It’s pure magic.

My Vision with L u n a

With L u n a, my vision is to share that magic with you. To give you a true introduction — and hopefully, a deeper understanding — of life on the water. Whether you're new to sailing or just curious about the lifestyle, 'Luna' is about creating real moments, unforgettable memories, and a connection to the sea that stays with you long after you’ve left the dock.
